My Three Girls

My heart has taken some serious blows over the past few days. I have felt defeated numerous times. BUT (don't you love that?... you know that God was in the midst of it all), I had the sweetest prayer time with my girls today. After another round of disciplining in a difficult environment in tears all three girls came to comfort me. I asked them if they wanted to pray with me to ask God for help in our behavior. The older two wanted to. It was the first time I've ever cried while praying and they did too. I"m hoping that there was a genuine brokeness before the Lord for them like there was for me! On that note, I simply want to share a picture of each one of them. For those of you who have been praying for us during our time here at camp, I know pictures help. :)

I have a feeling these girls know there mommy is real. I also have a feeling that God is doing wonderful and amazing things with and in you! I once heard someone say that it was better for our children to see our imperfections and witness our need for forgiveness. That way when they see their own imperfections they know it's not hopeless and they too can come for forgiveness.
A good friend gave me a great analogy when I was feeling defeated by my lack of love in parenting.....our relationships are like a bank account as long as we are making plenty of deposits then an occasional withdrawal will not bounce checks...(:
By the way your little girls are beautiful!

Hi my sweet friend! Thanks for leading me here. I knew you had a blog, but REALLY didn't think you'd have internet access at camp! Guess I need to get with the times...
Anyway, I read EVERYTHING. I have been praying for you "unspecifically" but now I know how "specifically!" You really are an incredible mom, I promise!! I so admire you & am always impressed with your girls & their behavior. I know it might be different seeing it as their mom, but as an outsider ...you are doing a fab job!! :) I miss you & can't wait till our next visit together.
Praying for you,
Dawn :)

I loved the comments and encouragements you have gotten here and on your siestas thingie. I trust your heart is encouraged by them all, as well. It is true, your authenticity with them will help them to see their need for Him. Your example is how you teach the best.

Hey Rachael, I wanted to encourage you by carrying you for the day. I have been where you are, not 400 teens, but a sleu of them, and tried to care for my 5 and 7 year old girls. It is hard. It is worth the tears and effort, because you are showing them true servanthood. So it is not always pretty. The yes maam's come not so often and they transform into mini-teens...and it makes you rethink everything. But it is heritage my new friend. A spiritual heritage you are passing on to them. God is not suprised by your moves, jobs, kids or tears. But he wants to be included in all of it. The walks from the dorm over two hills, find him He is there. Give the girls some unearned attention and let them eat cake. It will be over soon, and we will be in San Antonio.

It's so great to be able to pray with our children. You set such a good example to them, going to God for help and asking Him to change hearts and attitudes. Those are the moments that are shaping and influencing your girls. I'm praying for you all.
